Mazarins On Stage - Presentations Skills Development concluded successfully

The sessions concluded successfully on the 14th. During the feedback the participants mentioned couple of times that the "Session was not boring at all" :).

Well how it worked for me .. it could work for you as well. So I put down some of the steps that I took in developing the training session.

Setting the Objectives for My Reference

It kind of goes along with the Maslow's hieracy of needs, may be. Some of that picked up from JCI Prime course.

Workshop Flow

Icebreaker was a 30 Seconder. No one had done it before. But the guys picked up. Following that was making the participants taking 5 min to draw up something personal on flip chart, and presenting it. It was a good one. Each person had his/her own "time" to reflect back. Personal reflection time, it reminds me to do a seperate session on "Personal Vision Building", seeing how effective it was in bring up positive personal charactoristics. This session was Video Recorded, and the guys insisted that it should not be shared out side the door, lot of "bokken" stuff, as my collegue Ruwan, put it.

Typical Agenda setting was done, by getting the participants to speak out their objective in attending the training program. I also chipped in to fill, as to how it would help their day-to-day work at Mazarin, (short term) and more long term benefits.

I used a good content from Giving Effective Presentations - Gillian Kerr, google video. Gillian as some good new thinking going on there. I liked the "Stated Objectives" and "Unstated Objectives" of participants.

AIESEC in Switzerlands, trainers manual had a good stament.

"I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise what you heard was not what I meant."

Good one for a training like this.

Quite a few games worked out to keep the participants involved. Body Language, PAMPERs for Voice, Using Resources Effectivly were some deliveries. Preparign for a presentation and a recomeneded Flow for the presentation was the least effective on my side. It could have worked out better with a bit of interactivity.

Before the lunch break two topics were given to two teams. First to Promote a Product/Service. Other to Promote and Idea/Concept/Plan.

Mind Map tool was used for development of the sessions. A Trainers Guide and the Power Point of the session is available as well. I used some google vidoes of some presenters to highlight body language and add visual delivery. *

I used Flovv to register the participants. It took me just little less than 6 minutes to prepare the registration form and make it available online. The the free online service is from Mazarin, the place I work.
